Thomas Wu was appointed managing director of Hopewell Holdings Limited in October
2009. He started as executive director in June 2001 and also was appointed as COO in
January 2002. He was deputy managing director from August 2003 until July 2007 when
he was promoted to co-managing director. At the company, he has been involved in the
review of operational performance, strategic planning, and organizational effectiveness, and
has upgraded the financial and management accounting systems. He is responsible for the
overall management of the company.
Mr. Wu also is the managing director of Hopewell Highway Infrastructure Limited, a
subsidiary of Hopewell Holdings Limited that went public in 2003, and a director of
various companies of the Hopewell Group.
He holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BS in mechanical
and aerospace engineering from Princeton University.
Mr. Wu is a member of the Heilongjiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s
Political Consultative Conference, a member of the Huadu District Standing Committee and
the Huadu District Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, a
member of the 11th National Committee of the All-China Youth Federation, and an
honorary citizen of the City of Guangzhou. He is a member of the advisory committee of
the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, a member of the Hong Kong SAR
Government Steering Committee on the Promotion of Electric Vehicles, a council member
of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a member of the court of the Hong Kong
University of Science and Technology, a member of the board of directors of the
Community Chest of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited, vice
chairman of the Chinese Ice Hockey Association, honorary chairman of the Ice Hockey
Association of Taipei Municipal Athletics Federation, honorary president of the Macau Ice
Sports Federation, cofounder and chairman of Hong Kong Amateur Hockey Club Limited,
founder and chairman of Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey Limited, and an independent
director of Melco Crown Entertainment Limited.
In 2006, the World Economic Forum selected Mr. Wu as a “Young Global Leader.” He was
also awarded the Director of the Year award by the Hong Kong Institute of Directors in
November 2010.
