Thomas Wu has been executive director of Hopewell Holdings Ltd. since June 2001 and the
COO since January 2002. He was appointed deputy managing director in August 2003 and
was promoted to co-managing director in July 2007. He also is the managing director
of Hopewell Highway Infrastructure Ltd. and a director of various members of the
Hopewell Group. Mr. Wu joined Hopewell Holdings in 1999 as manager of the Executive
Committee Office and was promoted to group controller in March 2000. He has been
involved in the review of the company’s operational performance, strategic planning, and
organizational effectiveness, and has upgraded the financial and management accounting
systems of the company.
He holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BS in mechanical
and aerospace engineering from Princeton University.
Mr. Wu is a member of the Huadu District Standing Committee and Committee of the Chinese
People’s Political Consultative Conference, and an honorary citizen of the city of Guangzhou
in the People’s Republic of China. He also is a member of the advisory committee of the
Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, a member of the Pan-Pearl River Delta
Panel of the Central Policy Unit of the Hong Kong SAR Government, a member of the
Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s China Trade Advisory Committee, vice chairman
of the chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies, an independent director of Melco
PBL Entertainment (Macau) Ltd., the honorary consultant of the Institute of Accountants
Exchange, and honorary president of the Association of Property Agents and Realty
Developers of Macau.
In 2006 the World Economic Forum selected Mr. Wu as a “Young Global Leader.” He
is a member of the Community Chest of Hong Kong’s Campaign Committee, cofounder
and chairman of the Hong Kong Amateur Hockey Club Ltd., founder and chairman of
the Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey Ltd., and honorary president of the Macau Ice
Sports Federation.
He is a son of Sir Gordon Ying Sheung Wu, chairman of the board of Hopewell Holdings,
and Lady Ivy Sau Ping Kwok Wu, JP, non-executive director of Hopewell Holdings.
