Within Allianz, the world’s largest insurer in terms of market cap, revenues, assets under management, and profits, Enrico Cucchiani is head of most European markets, South America, and Africa, with revenues in excess of $50 billion. He also is responsible for the worldwide restructuring program of the property and casualty business with turnover in excess of $60 billion and of the “direct” distribution channel.

Dr. Cucchiani chairs or serves on the boards of several Allianz companies, Unicredit Bank (fifth largest European bank), Pirelli, and other companies. He is chairman of the MIB School of Management in Trieste, lifetime director of the Javotte Bocconi Institute (Bocconi University Foundation), and a member of the International Advisory Council of Bocconi University. He is a member of the Trilateral Commission, a member of the executive committee of the Council for the United States and Italy, a member of the Aspen Institute, and a director of the Institute for Political Studies. He also chairs the Italian-German Forum and is a director of the La Scala Philharmonic.

He is Cavaliere del Lavoro, the highest honorary title awarded by the president of Italy, and the recipient of the 2006 Businessman of the Year award of Bocconi University.

Dr. Cucchiani holds a doctorate degree with highest honors in economics from Bocconi University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business; he also has carried out research at the Harvard Business School.

Prior to joining Allianz, he set up a venture capital firm; managed a luxury goods group; worked with McKinsey & Company in Italy, London, and New York; and worked with a major international bank in the United States.

Mr. Cucchiani and his wife, Petra, both enjoy their two flat-coated retrievers, Muffin and Pumpkin.
