Pepe Domene is the chairman and CEO of Strategic Business Group in Monterrey, Mexico.
He is the former COO of Vitro, S.A. de C.V. He joined Vitro in 2000 as president of the
international division and was appointed COO in 2001. Vitro, through its subsidiary
companies, is one of the world’s leading glass producers and the largest in Latin America.
Vitro is a major participant in two principal businesses: flat glass and glass containers.
From 1999 to 2000, Mr. Domene was CEO of Altos Hornos de Mexico, Mexico’s largest
steel producer.
Mr. Domene worked from 1986 to 1998 at Cemex, where he held various positions including
president of the international division; CFO; president, Cementos Anahuac; and president,
Cementos Tolteca.
Previously, Mr. Domene served in several executive positions in strategic planning at
Alfa Industries. He also worked at Grupo Protexa as vice president of finance, planning,
tourism, electronics, and food division, until he was promoted to president of real estate
and tourism.
Mr. Domene is a member of the boards of directors of Grupo Contal, Caintra, Centro de
Productividad de Monterrey, BBVA, and the Terry Fox Cancer Foundation. He also is a
member of the board of trustees of the Cardigan Mountain School. He was a member
of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Alumni Board and has been a lecturer at the
School for several years.
Born in Monterrey, Mexico, Mr. Domene received his BS in chemical engineering from
the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1975, and his MBA from the Stanford Graduate
School of Business in 1979.
