David A. Donnini, MBA ’91

Managing Director, GTCR Private Equity

David Donnini is a managing director at GTCR, a Chicago- based private equity firm. David joined GTCR in 1991 and became a partner in 1993.

GTCR pioneered The Leaders Strategy of finding and partnering with exceptional management leaders in core domains to identify, acquire, and build market-leading companies through transformational acquisitions and organic growth. The firm’s primary focus is in the Growth Business Services, Financial Services & Technology, Healthcare, and Information Services & Technology industries. Since inception, GTCR funds have invested more than $13 billion in over 200 companies.

David works with management teams to build companies in a variety of sectors, including growth business services and financial services. He is currently a director of Sotera (outsourced global provider of sterilization services for the medical device industry), Park Place Technology (third- party computer hardware field maintenance), Vivid Seats (secondary marketplace for tickets), GreatCall (personal emergency response services), and Fairway Outdoor Advertising (billboard owner and operator). He has also been instrumental in such past GTCR investments as Assured Partners, Coinmach, Gensar Transaction Processing, Polypore, Syniverse, Cambridge Protection, HSM Security Monitoring, and Protection One.

David earned a BA in economics, summa cum laude from Yale University, Class of 1987. In 1991 he received an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar. Prior to joining GTCR, he worked at General Atlantic Partners and Bain & Company.

David resides in Champaign, Illinois, with his wife, Dr. Karen Rudolph, and their two children, Zachary and Emma. He is a board member of Countryside School, the Yale Development Council, and the advisory board of the Chicago Cubs.
