Leopoldo E. Guzman

Leo Guzman is founder, president and CEO of Guzman & Company, an investment banking and institutional brokerage firm headquartered in Coral Gables, Florida, which he founded in 1987. Guzman & Company is a member of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the Boston Stock Exchange, the International Securities Exchange, and the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). The firm is a leader in the field of portfolio trading on behalf of index and quantitative investors. The firm provides proprietary institutional research on (a) quantitative investment strategies and (b) fundamental research on selected industries. Guzman & Company is the only Hispanic-owned firm ever to become a member of the NYSE.

Prior to founding Guzman & Company, Mr. Guzman was CIO of Gulf Investments Company, a large, publicly-held investment company in Kuwait that had worldwide investments in real estate, financial services, and marketable securities.

From 1980 to 1982, Mr. Guzman was vice president in the mergers and acquisitions group of the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City. From 1976 to 1980, Mr. Guzman was a member of the corporate finance department of Lazard Freres & Company in New York City. From 1972 to 1976, he was an officer with the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City.

Mr. Guzman received his BS degree in from the School of Engineering and Applied Science of Columbia University in 1969 and his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1971. He is the recipient of the 2002 Jerry I. Porras Award for Outstanding Achievement at Stanford Graduate School of Business.

In 2005, he was appointed by President George W. Bush to the advisory committee of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.

Since 1998, Mr. Guzman has been a member of the advisory board of the master's degree in financial engineering at the School of Engineering and Applied Science of Columbia University.

He was a member of the regional firm advisory committee of the NYSE for two terms from 1999 to 2001 and 1995 to 1997, the corporate finance committee and the international committee of the NASD from 1993 to 1996.

He is a member of The Institute for Quantitative Research in Finance, the Chicago Quantitative Alliance, the Society of Quantitative Analysts, and the National Organization of Investment Professionals.
