Laurene Powell

College Track
Laurene Powell is cofounder and president of the board of College Track, an after-school
program that prepares under-resourced high school students for higher education. Through
its three centers in the San Francisco Bay Area and its newest center in New Orleans,
College Track is a holistic and comprehensive program, nourishing both the academic and
social/emotional growth of its students. Founded in 1997, all of the program’s graduates
have completed their secondary education and gone on to college.
In addition to her work in education reform, Ms. Powell has a strong focus on nonprofit
entrepreneurship, with an emphasis on empowerment of youth and women. Her board
affiliations include Global Fund for Women, New America Foundation, NewSchools
Venture Fund, Stand for Children, and EdVoice.
Ms. Powell holds a BA and a BSE from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from
the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
She lives in Palo Alto with her husband and three children.
