Henry A. McKinnell, Jr.

Academic Alliance Foundation

Hank McKinnell is chairman of the Accordia Global Health Foundation, an organization
dedicated to fighting infectious diseases in Africa by strengthening academic medical centers
and building health care capacity through research, training, prevention, care, and treatment.

Dr. McKinnell joined Pfizer in 1971 in Tokyo and retired as chairman and CEO in 2007.
Over the years, he held positions of increasing responsibility around the world, including
president of Pfizer Asia, based in Hong Kong. He also served as Pfizer’s country
manager–Iran/Afghanistan. In 1984 Dr. McKinnell relocated to New York, where he
served as vice president–strategic planning, CFO, president–Pfizer medical device group,
president–Pfizer pharmaceuticals group, president and COO, president and CEO, chairman
and CEO, and chairman to December 2006.

Dr. McKinnell is the lead director on the board of directors of Moody’s Corporation. He
is chairman of the Connecticut Science Center. He is chairman emeritus of the Business
Roundtable, the Pharmaceutical Research Manufacturers Association, the Food and
Drug Law Institute, and the Medical Device Manufacturers Association. Dr. McKinnell
also served as vice chairman of the World Economic Forum and as a trustee of the
WEF Foundation. He served on the President’s Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS. He is
a director of the Medal of Honor Foundation and of the Royal Shakespeare Company
of America, a life trustee of the Japan Society, and a former chairman of the Stanford
Graduate School of Business Advisory Council.

Dr. McKinnell holds a BS in business from the University of British Columbia and MBA
and PhD degrees from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Recent honors include the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, Japan’s highest
award to individuals other than members of the Imperial Family and heads of state; the
Sitara-i-Eisaar Award, Pakistan’s highest award for humanitarian relief; the Presidential
Distinguished Service Award for contributions to health services in Uganda; the United
Nations Association of the United States of America’s Global Leadership Award; the
Woodrow Wilson Institute Corporate Service Award; the Columbia University Teachers
College Cleveland E. Dodge Medal for Distinguished Service to Education; the Stanford
Graduate School of Business Arbuckle Award and Excellence in Leadership Award; and
an honorary doctorate in engineering from Polytechnic University.
