Terry O'Toole is the co-managing member of Tinicum Capital Partners II, LP, a private investment partnership based in New York City. All of Tinicum's investors are individuals or families, and the partnership seeks to create value through long term ownership of businesses or assets.
Prior to joining Tinicum in January of 2006, Mr. O'Toole spent 21 years at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he was a partner, a member of the investment committee and the partnership committee, and the chief operating officer of the principal investment area (PIA), the private equity investing arm of the firm. Mr. O'Toole was one of the founding members of the PIA, and was responsible for a number of the firm's investments. He served as the chairman of the board of Amscan Holdings, Inc., and was a member of the board of Western Wireless, Voicestream, Orion Power Holdings, RH Donnelley, 21st Century Newspapers, Alliance Broadcasting, and a number of private companies.
Mr. O'Toole received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University in 1980 and his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1983. He serves on the board of trustees at Villanova, where he is chairman of the investment committee, and is a trustee of the Pingry School in New Jersey, where he is also chairman of the investment committee. He was a member of the Stanford Business School Trust from 2001 to 2006, and was chair from 2005 to 2006.
Mr. O'Toole lives in Short Hills, New Jersey, with his wife, Polly, and their two children.
