Former Executive Vice President
BP plc
Steve Westwell was a member of the executive team of BP plc from January 2008 until December 2011. As EVP, Mr. Westwell managed all BP’s activities in strategy, policy, investor relations, economics and long-term research and technology. He was also the accountable executive for BP’s activities in alternative energy.
Mr. Westwell worked for four years in the power industry prior to joining BP in 1988 and within BP has worked in a variety of roles including alternative energy, refining, supply, strategic planning, planning and control and especially retail marketing. His career has included postings in Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Mr. Westwell holds a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Natal, an MBA from the University of Cape Town, and a MS in management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
