Miles White joined Abbott in 1984, was named chief executive officer in 1998 and became chairman of the board in 1999.
In addition to his responsibilities at Abbott, Mr. White serves on the boards of directors of Motorola, Inc. He is chairman of the board of trustees of The Field Museum, and sits on the boards of the Museum of Science and Industry, the Joffrey Ballet, and
the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
He serves as a trustee on the boards of Northwestern University and the Culver Educational Foundation. In addition, he is a member of the International Advisory Council of the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University and vice chairman
of the Chicago 2016 Olympic Bid.
Mr. White earned a BA in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
