Geoff Yang is a founding partner of Redpoint Ventures, a $2B+ family of early stage, venture capital partnerships. Since joining the venture capital business in 1985, he has helped start such media companies as Ask Jeeves, Excite, MySpace, and TiVo; and infrastructure companies as BigBand Networks, Foundry Networks, and Juniper Networks.
Before starting Redpoint, Mr. Yang was a general partner of IVP and a marketing representative at IBM. He holds a BSE in engineering from Princeton University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Mr. Yang is a member of the boards of BigBand Networks, TiVo, and well as several private companies. In addition, he currently serves on the board of the First Tee of San Francisco and U.S. Ski and Snowboarding Association Foundation, and is a member of the executive committee of the U.S. Golf Association.
Mr. Yang was past president of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists (WAVC), director to the National Venture Capital Association), chairman of the Stanford Engineering Fund, and a member of the President's Information Technology Advisory Committee.
He lives in Atherton, California, with his three children.
