LinkSync Golf

LinkSync Golf is an interactive, on-line platform that allows golfers to re-live and re-count their experiences from the golf course. By serving as a virtual clubhouse, LinkSync extends the entertainment value of previous and upcoming rounds.  No longer will golfers be left with only a scorecard as the souvenir of an expensive round of golf. Customers of LinkSync will have access to a complete visual and statistical record of their game. Our interactive website allows golfers to upload content from GPS-enabled devices, digital cameras, and cell phones. With this rich content, players will spend hours interacting with their own stats, tracking their progress, re-creating visual records of their performance, and comparing themselves to other golfers. Ideas evaluated during 2005:

Amanda's will be a new quick-service restaurant chain that provides delicious, better-for-you meals to the whole family in a fun, familiar, fast food format.
Email Amanda West, Founder.

Edumex
Edumex seeks to create a chain of for-profit vocational schools in Mexico. We will provide practical skills to mid-low income population at affordable prices and connect students to the local job markets.
Email Alberto Kritzler, Founder.

FullPro
FullPro is a low-tech product design and marketing company with ambitions for serial (and parallel) business and product development. FullPro's initial product, SoundVision, is an innovative type of eye protection that addresses the needs of comfort and effectiveness for those who simultaneously require ear protection. FullPro's initial target marketing is on shooting enthusiasts, but plans call for expansion into the industrial and do-it-yourself sectors should cash flows allow for such growth. FullPro's long-term plan is to commercialize new products using experience and knowledge from preceding endeavors.

SnipIt!
There are over 20 million video capture devices in the US and it is still very painful to record and share important, funny, or dramatic videos with others. Communities are thriving around photo sharing, but video is absent from the internet community landscape because itās just too damn hard to do anything with video. We are building an online video editing and sharing service that will be the heart of THE internet community where people will go to view, share and interact with video content. It's Flickr meets Friendster meets iMovie online. To learn more, contact Mike Folgner

Other ideas previously evaluated by S356 Teams:

1031 Central
Real estate investors have long been able to exchange real estate properties on a tax deferred basis under the IRS 1031 law. Recent IRS rulings have significantly relaxed the restrictions and 1031 Central is taking advantage of these new rulings to offer Bay Area investors new real estate products that offer higher yields, lower principal risks, and geographic diversity.

Aster, Inc
Aster will offer a novel data warehousing solution that enables enterprises to leverage their ever-growing volumes of data that are currently too expensive to analyze. Asterās solution provides three key benefits over existing options ö it is cheaper, faster and provides very high and incremental scalability. It achieves this by leveraging proprietary data warehousing technology developed to run on clusters of commodity hardware. Aster's patent-pending algorithms for data and cluster management enable critical automation benefits not offered by any of the existing vendors in the market.

Athena Enterprise Alliance
Seeks to enter the IT training market in China, in areas such as project management certification, current technologies (e.g. .NET, Java, etc.) and IT applied to industries like financial services and telecommunications industry. Target clients are both junior professionals (1-4 years experience) and project team leaders.

Greenbank
GreenBank will provide project financing for small to medium size producers of low quality methane so that they can purchase technologies to produce electricity from this waste gas. Target customers include landfills, waste treatment plants, and stock farms.

Nucleus
Nucleus is focused on providing server software solutions to the Massively Multiplayer Online Gaming (MMOG) market. Game developers currently create most of their own tools and infrastructure, but the rising cost and complexity of game development is straining their ability to create compelling content and keep up with the most recent gaming technologies and trends. Nucleus seeks to provide a targeted solution to the server segment of the online game value chain. By doing this, we can lower the developersā up-front costs while reducing their time to market by leveraging the economies of scale of a common server platform.

Personal Health
The Personal Health team is researching opportunities in the personalized preventive health care market. We seek to reduce costs to self-insured employers by improving the health and wellness of their employee base.

RentalExchange
Rental Exchange is an online peer to peer exchange that connects owners of stuff with people who want to use that stuff. A decent anology is to think about the ebay of rentals. The exchange will roll out in two stages: 1. it will start with a peer network of friends enabling you to share, for free, items you own with friends who want to borrow them  2. it will then transition into allowing individuals to rent things they own to others they don't know who are part of the network.

SleepWell
SleepWell seeks to create a chain of profitable, high-quality sleep labs catered to individuals with moderate to severe sleep disorders. The company will focus on both the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, and help alleviate current capacity constraints in the industry.

SmartWorks
Robotic appliances in the domestic space to save time and relieve effort in housekeeping chores.

The Sententia
The Sententia is a proposed company focused on creating premium, active adult (55+ years of age) living communities located near and associated with leading universities in the Western United States. These communities provide its residents with a unique physical design, a genuine sense of community and comprehensive set of services, including those focused on fitness & wellness.

Urban Fish
We plan to produce/farm branded, high-quality seafood products that meet organic / ecologically-friendly standards. Initially we will build a large-scale Recirculating Aquaculture System production facility to produce Tilapia in the United States. We plan to expand from Tilapia over time into other species by leveraging both our production technology and our brand.
