STRAMGT 366: Creating a Startup II (S366) is a team-based course where graduate students develop a new venture.  Most of these ventures were started during Autumn quarter in STRAMGT 356 (Creating a Startup I).  However, S366 also admits a number of ventures initiated elsewhere (e.g., independently of any course, in an independent study course, or in MS&E 273, where students put together a business plan).  In addition, the ventures started in S356 may recruit additional students into S366.

In STRAMGT 366, each team works with a Silicon Valley mentor to develop its new venture. In addition, the course covers topics such as partnering, operational staging, human resource development, leadership, financing, equity arrangements, term sheets, and customer acquisition and go-to-market strategies. Students develop a business plan for pursuing the opportunity based on their field work and research and present it to a panel of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, angel investors and faculty.

A relatively small number of individuals and teams will be accepted.  Acceptance into S366 will be either on an individual basis (if accepted, you would be added to a team that was formed earlier and is adding new team members) or by team (your entire team would be accepted, and possibly augmented with other students).

STRAMGT 366 is a four-unit course that meets on Thursdays from 3:15-6:15 PM during the Winter quarter. It is cross listed with the Engineering School as CHEMENG 484 and with the Medical School as SOMGEN 284.
