Bringing Leadership Lessons to the Classroom

...and the Boardroom

Leadership in Focus is a video collection of leaders talking about
significant challenges they have faced, decisions they have made,
and lessons learned from the experiences.

To help managers develop the mindset and skills necessary to effectively lead organizations, we interviewed more than 100 senior-level and mid-level managers about their toughest challenges. These interviews form the basis of an exciting new tool for developing executive skills.

The Leadership in Focus videos provide snapshots of the most common and vexing challenges managers face. For use by academics and corporate learning specialists, each video is accompanied by teaching notes, providing tips for how the video can be used to raise and discuss critical issues.

Academic Origin

First developed to help faculty at business schools more effectively teach leadership issues, the videos were designed to supplement the more traditional case-method of teaching with a pedagogy that emphasizes the nature of real-time, action-oriented decision making in a social and emotional context.

Corporate Value

Teams and organizations have found the video collection can have tremendous value when used for learning and development purposes. Members of the Center's Leadership in Focus Corporate Forum are incorporating the videos within cutting edge leadership and talent development initiatives.
