Career Advising: A staff of professionals provides expertise to students in planning all aspects of career objectives and job searches. This is from the up-front work to the all important negotiating. Advisors are available by appointment or during drop-in advising hours.
Career Strategies Workshops: The CMC staff offers a variety of workshops and panels over the year timed strategically to provide students with information when it is most needed. A sampling includes:
- On-Campus Recruiting Briefings: Learn how to make the most of on-campus recruiting.
- Self Assessment: For introspection and some soul searching to clarify or develop your interests, preferences, ideal work environment and content, etc.
- Resume Writing: Develop a winning resume.
- Targeted Job Search: For any job searches-in total or aspects-not focusing on on-campus recruiting sources.
- Cover Letters: For developing winning cover letters.
- International Job Search: Learn how to use the resources available most effectively to conduct an international targeted job search.
- International Student Visa Workshop: A must for all international students-learn the latest about what you need to do to work outside your home country.
- Interviewing Effectively-Ace Your Interviews: How to best handle the top questions asked and how to best answer the really tough ones.
- Cracking the Case-Consulting Interviews: Hear from a top consulting firm what is expected and how to effectively handle the consulting case interviews. Past organizations who have participated in this workshop include Booz Allen & Hamilton Inc., The Boston Consulting Group Inc., Bain and Company, McKinsey & Company, to name a few.
- Offers, Decisions, & Negotiations: Learn about trade-offs and creative components of compensation (beyond salary and bonus) and learn how to effectively handle the negotiations.
