Industrial management professor Paul Holden's scale model of the Plymouth assembly plant in Detroit was a souvenir of the GSB's first large-scale effort at field-based research. The study, which required seven months on the road in visits to 31 leading industrial companies, led to Holden's 1941 book on top management policies and practices.
