How to deal with the press in a crisis
- Don't lie.
- Don't stonewall.
- Never say "No comment." But don't be afraid to say "I don't know."
- Don't be dominated by lawyers. They hoard information for the courtroom.
- Be accessible.
- Accommodate the media. Make it physically easier for them to work.
- Above all, remember this: You can't stop the reporting of a story. You can only influence it.
