Research Findings
The Center sponsors ongoing research projects and makes its findings available online for public use.
Recent study results include:
- Managing Through Challenges, a report from the Stanford Project on the Evolution of Nonprofits, which profiles the nonprofit sector nationally and in California and examines critical management issues facing nonprofit organizations.
Speaker Series, Conferences, and Workshops

Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders
This two-week residential program furthers the professional development of nonprofit executives by integrating frameworks on leadership, management, mission, and strategy.
Executive Program for Philanthropy Leaders
Senior executives and trustees of philanthropic organizations gather at Stanford for a one-week intensive residential program on the leadership and management of grantmaking institutions with a spacial emphasis on vision, power, governance, and collaboration.
Strategy for Nonprofit Organizations
A team-based program that guides participants through the application of business frameworks to their own organization to effectively define and execute both its mission and strategy.
Pro Bono Management Consulting
One of the largest pro bono resource providers in the Bay Area, the Alumni Consulting Team (ACT) donates more than $2 million of consulting services annually to nonprofit and government agencies.
ACT offers solutions for complex strategic or management issues facing organizations as well as for focused tactical matters that can be addressed in two to three client/consultant meetings. Find out more information about client criteria and application guidelines.
MBA Students and Alumni Recruiting
Looking for full-time graduates or summer interns? Use our career resources to connect with exceptional MBA candidates:
- Public and nonprofit sector organizations recruit approximately 25 MBAs for 10-week internships every summer.
- MBA graduates regularly contribute high-quality management skills to government and not-for-profit organizations.
Financial support is provided to these students and graduates by the Business School. Internship and job descriptions can be submitted online to the Graduate School of Business Jobs database.
Board Fellows
Every year, nearly 100 MBA students serve on boards of Bay Area nonprofit organizations. Fellows serve as non-voting board members and work closely with trustees and executive directors on special projects. Applications can be downloaded online.
