George G. C. Parker

George Parker’s teaching and research interests are primarily in the field of corporate finance, management of financial institutions, and corporate governance. He is the author of numerous case studies related to these subjects which are used in the MBA Program at Stanford and other schools. He has also authored several articles on capital structure, risk management, and corporate valuation.[View Profile]

  Annie Koh
Associate Professor of Finance; Dean, Office of Executive and Professional Education, Singapore Management University; Associate Dean, Lee Kong Chian School of Business; Academic Director, International Trading Institute

Annie Koh has extensive experience in consulting and executive teaching, having worked with organizations such as ABN AMRO, Allianz, Bank Dagang Negara, Bank EXIM, Bank of Indonesia, Citibank, Credit Suisse, DBS, EDB, Firefly, FujiXerox, IE Singapore, Intercontinental Hotels Group, IBM, ING, Johnson & Johnson, KBC, Morgan-Stanley, National Healthcare Group, Nokia, Singapore Airlines, Singpore Government Investment Corporation, SingHealth Group, SingTel Group, Swiss Re, UBS, VISA, and the World Gold Council. Her current research focuses on alternate investments and corporate risk management. She serves on numerous boards, and her articles have appeared in The Review of Future Markets and IE Singpaore’s book on Financial Internationalisation – Growth Strategies for Successful Companies, among others.   David W. Brady
Bowen H. and Janice Arthur McCoy Professor of Political Science and Leadership Values; Codirector of the Stanford-National University of Singapore Executive Program in International Management; Professor of Political Science, School of Humanities and Sciences; Senior Fellow and Deputy Director, Hoover Institution; Senior Fellow, Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research; Morris M. Doyle Centennial Chair in Public Policy

Brady's research focuses on the American Congress, the party system, and public policy. He has studied the critical congressional realignments of 1860, 1896, and 1932, and has concluded that the rising number of safe seats and the waning importance of presidential coattails have made it much more difficult for a realigning election to take place in the United States. He also has written on Internet voting, the women's movement, regulation of the nuclear industry, apportionment, the Supreme Court handling of abortion, and Korean and Japanese politics. He presently heads a joint project between the Brookings Institution and the Hoover Institution on Polarization in American Politics.[View Profile]

  Jean C. Oi, PhD
William Haas Professor in Chinese Politics and Professor of Political Science, Stanford University; Senior Fellow, Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies

Professor Oi’s work focuses on comparative politics, Chinese political economy, and corporate restructuring and governance in Asia. She is the director of the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center’s newly established Stanford China Program. Her most current research project examines restructuring and corporate governance in China’s state-owned enterprises. She is also continuing her research on rural China, including work on village and township finances, rural development and debt, as well as work on village elections. Professor Oi’s book, Rural China Takes Off: Institutional Foundations of Economic Reform (University of California Press), was named by the library journal Choice as one of the “outstanding academic titles” of 1999.   D. John Roberts
John H. Scully Professor of Economics, Strategic Management, and International Business; Professor of Economics (by courtesy), School of Humanities and Sciences; Codirector of the Executive Program in Strategy and Organization; Director of the Center for Global Business and the Economy; Faculty Director of the Global Management Program

John Roberts’ teaching and research involve the application of economic and strategic (game-theoretic) analysis to management problems. His specific areas of current interest involve international business, the organization of the firm, and the connection between strategy and organization. He also has published extensively on industrial competition, emphasizing how informational differences among various parties affect strategic behavior, and on complementarities as a driving force in organizational design and strategic choice. As well, he has helped develop new techniques for deriving robust conclusions from economic models.[View Profile]

 

Henry S. Rowen
Edward B. Rust Professor of Public Policy and Management, Emeritus, Stanford University; Senior Fellow, Emeritus, Hoover Institution; Senior Fellow, Emeritus, Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies

Henry Rowen is an expert on international security, economic development, and high tech industries in the United States and Asia and is a member of Stanford University’s Asia/Pacific Research Center. His most recent work is coediting MAKING IT: The Rise of Asia in Information Technologies (Stanford Press, 2006). Formerly, he served on the Presidential Commission on the Intelligence of the United States regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction and on the Secretary of Defense Policy Advisory Board. He was Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs in the U.S. Department of Defense from 1989 to 1991 and served as Chairman of the National Intelligence Council from 1981 to 1983. Rowen also served as President of the RAND Corporation and was Assistant Director of the U.S. Bureau of the Budget. [View Profile]

Robert E. King

A business and philanthropic entrepreneur, Robert King is the founder of R. Eliot King & Associates, Inc., an investment management company, and an active venture investor in U.S. and international companies through his firm, Peninsula Capital. For 15 years, he served on the Board of Village Enterprise Fund, an organization established to help create micro enterprises in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. In 1997 his family established Thrive Foundation for Youth to promote positive youth development with investments in research, practice, and tool development. Bob holds a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. [View Profile]

Tan Hwee Hoon
Associate Professor, Singapore Management University

Hwee Hoon's research focuses on the areas of interpersonal trust, cross cultural awareness, and emotional management at the workplace. She is actively involved in executive teaching, both in English and Chinese, and has trained for major organizations in Singapore, such as the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and in China, including Kerry Oils and Alcatel Asia Pacific. In addition, she consults for organizations such as the Singapore Tourism Board, IE Singapore, and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. Hwee Hoon has published in many international journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Relations, and many others. Tan Chin Tiong
Deputy President, Singapore Management University

Professor Tan Chin Tiong is the Deputy President of Singapore Management University (SMU).  He was a founding member of SMU and was its Provost from 1999 to 2008. Prof. Tan is active in management development and consulting.  He designed and taught in many executive programs around the world and is a regular speaker in the US, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and South Africa. Prof. Tan was the Academic Advisor to Singapore Airline’s Management Development Centre for more than 15 years.  Other organizations that he worked with include Swiss Bank Corporation, Citigroup, Singapore Telecom, Inchcape, Sime Darby, Motorola and others.  He is on the Board of Directors of several listed companies and served as strategic and business advisor to many organizations.
