Eligibility: Loans
The applicant must have demonstrated financial need during their enrollment and have obtained educational loans to address this need.
The applicant’s educational loans must be in a repayment status.
Typically, the GSB Financial Aid Office will only include original loans that were borrowed while attending the GSB and certified by our office. If our office did not certify the loan, then the applicant has the burden of proof to demonstrate that they borrowed the loan while attending the GSB.
If the applicant’s loans are eligible for loan deferment, they do not qualify for the GSB Nonprofit/Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
If an applicant does not appear to have repaid their loans (past due amount), then they will not be eligible for the program until they can demonstrate that their loans are back in good standing.
If an applicant chooses to consolidate their GSB educational loan debt, the consolidated loans will only include those loans consolidated through the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) or Direct Loan Consolidation Program.
In addition, forgivable loans, funds received from employers under conditional contracts (i.e., tuition reimbursement, salary advance, etc.) toward the borrowers tuition, books and supplies, and other fees, are not eligible for the GSB Nonprofit/Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
