Global Management Program

About Us

The Global Management Program (GMP) plays a vital role in integrating global issues into the MBA Program at Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB). It was started in 1994 by a group of students and faculty who were committed to strengthening the GSB's focus on international issues and global management.

Our Mission

The mission of the GMP is to develop future leaders with global mindset and a commitment to making a positive impact as managers on the world and its people.

We seek to instill the following attributes in our students:

  • Respect for diverse cultures, social norms, and legitimate business practices
  • Understanding of the complexities of managing businesses effectively in a global environment
  • Awareness of the impact of businesses on the communities in which they operate and on larger global issues

What We Do

The GMP is a resource for all GSB students. The Certificate in Global Management, an academic option within the MBA and Sloan Programs, is available to students who wish to focus their coursework on global management. The certificate demonstrates to future employers a student's preparation to be a global manager.

The GMP also offers experiential learning opportunities for students to be exposed to diverse cultures and to develop awareness of global business contexts. The Global Management Immersion Experience, the Stanford-Tsinghua Exchange Program, Stanford - Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore) Exchange Program, and Global Study Trips are all meant to further these objectives.

The GMP also fosters a variety of initiatives both in and outside of the classroom, including supporting student clubs to sponsor guest speakers, activities with alumni, and career and social events. In addition, its Global Speaker Series promotes discussion of international management issues by bringing leaders from business, academia, government, and the nonprofit sector to the GSB.
