Stanford and IIM(B) Link: SAIL

The Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) and the Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore) Link (SAIL) program is an immersive international student exchange program that facilitates cross-cultural learning of business, management, and society in the United States and India. This experiential opportunity provides students with a better understanding of key business issues facing the United States and India and helps to develop future leaders with a global mindset.
As part of the SAIL international exchange, GSB students visit the Institute of Management (Bangalore) [IIM(B)] campus for a one-week period in September to engage in a variety of learning and integration activities; in December IIM(B) students visit the GSB for a similar experience. Campus visits are structured across academic, business, and social levels with the common goal of providing a comprehensive cross-cultural journey. During each segment of the exchange, students attend classes, discuss cases relevant to India and the global economy, attend meetings at local businesses, and partake in many cultural activities.
At the start of the program, students from each institution are paired into small groups and begin working together on academic research projects focused on business issues in India. GSB program participants are also required to attend a series of preparatory lectures on relevant subject matter, conduct case readings and research, and participate in organized social events.
The SAIL program provides students with an in-depth appreciation of India’s position in the global economy, fosters development of life-long relationships with participants from the IIM(B), and promotes the Stanford GSB brand in India through its partnership with one of the most prestigious schools in India.
