Stanford and IIM(B) Link: SAIL
Overview

The Stanford and IIM(B) Link (SAIL) is an international student exchange program between the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore). The program is structured along the same lines as STEP, the Stanford Tsinghua Exchange Program, and serves to provide participants a basis for greater understanding of doing business in India, as well as the context of India in the global economy.
Details
The SAIL exchange involves a one-week visit by second-year MBA students of the GSB to the IIM(Bangalore) campus during September, and a reciprocal visit by IIM(B) MBA students to the GSB in December. Sixteen students from each side will be paired up as buddies this year, and start their relationship by communicating over email and collaborating on academic research projects. Visits will be organized along three core aspects as in STEP—academics, business, and social activities—with the goal of providing cross-cultural learning opportunities for the exchange partners. The visits include special classes for the exchange partners to work on cases involving India and the global economy, visits to local businesses, and social functions.
