Stanford Tsinghua Exchange Program: STEP

The Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) and Tsinghua School of Economics and Management Exchange Program (STEP) provides students with the unique opportunity to formulate a better understanding of business and society in China, to develop a critical perspective on the context of China in the global economy, and to cultivate strong personal relationships.
As part of the STEP international exchange, Tsinghua students visit Stanford for one week in January, and GSB students visit Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management in Beijing for one week at the end of March. Campus visits are structured across academic, business, and social levels with the common goal of providing a comprehensive cross-cultural learning experience. During each segment of the exchange, students attend classes, discuss cases relevant to China and the global economy, attend meetings at local businesses, and partake in many cultural activities.
In addition to participating in the international exchange, GSB students are required to collaborate with their Tsinghua project teams on a final research project focused on business issues in China. Students must also attend a series of preparatory lectures on relevant subject matter, conduct case readings and research prior to business visits, and participate in organized social events.
The GMP has received strong feedback from Tsinghua and GSB students alike on how the program has enriched their global perspective and helped to forge lasting relationships.
