LP Source Basic: Jump-Start Guide

LP Source Basic is an online database of 4,000 profiles of active investment firms worldwide.

How to Search

  • Shortcuts: on the homepage select Find Limited Partners or Find General Partners link.
  • Advanced Search: click the Advanced Search tab at top left and select one of the following categories: Investment Firm Limited Partners Placement Agents Advisors Fund People

    Running a search:
  1. Select a category, e.g. Investment Firm etc. A dialog box opens where you can select all applicable to your search criteria.
    After each selection, click [icon - LP Source Basic: Add]. Your selections appear in the left column below the name of the selected category.

  2. After you have added all criteria, click Search in the left column below your selected criteria.
  • Keyword Search: in the text box at top right, enter your search term(s). You can narrow down your search by selecting a subject category, e.g. News, Company, etc. from a drop-down list in the next box. To run a search, click [icon - LP Source Basic: Magnifying Glass] or click a term from the suggestion list generated as you type your entry.

Downloading Results

Results can be easily downloaded into Excel. Individual firm records can also be saved in PDF or HTML format. Before downloading results, you can select fields to be included in your final report.

Exporting a list

  1. With the results displayed, mouse over the Export link above the results on right; then in the pop-up box, select the records you want to export, e.g. Search results, Selected records etc.
  2. In the new window, select the fields you want to export or click the Select All checkbox. Click Save.
  3. Your report will be created in Excel.

Exporting individual records

  1. Click the company name to open a tagged individual firm's record.
  2. Click the Custom Report link at top right.
  3. In the new window, select the fields you want to export or click the Select All checkbox. From the File Type dropdown at top right, select PDF, HTML, or Excel. Click Export.
  4. Your report will be created in the selected file format.

Using Clipboard

Use Clipboard function to save individual records for future downloading or to create a list of records resulting from different searches. Also, use Clipboard function to email results.

  • To add a record to clipboard, click [icon - clipboard] in front of a company name.
  • To access clipboard, at top right click My Clipboard > Manage Clipboard Items.

    To export records from the Clipboard:

    1. Select individual records or all records; click the Custom Report link at top right.
    2. In the new box, select fields to be included in your final report.
    3. Scroll to the bottom, in the File Type dropdown, select PDF, Email, Print, or Excel. Click Save.

Features

  • Quick Links menu to recent global funds' activities on the homepage. Results are sortable by column and can be downloaded into Excel.
  • Currency conversion: With the search results displayed as a list, currency conversion option displayed as the second drop-down box at the top of the left column. This feature lets users select any of the four available currencies: British Pounds, Euros, Chinese Yuan, or US Dollars. Results will be converted to selected currency.
