Hot Topics: The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

With the 2008 Olympics fast approaching, Beijing has been racing to turn the city into a world-class capital for the 21st century. More than US$40 billion has been spent to modernize the city and to make sure that the Games will be green, high-tech, and humanistic. The new Beijing has now been expanded to six rings radiating from the Forbidden City; 2.7 million trees have been planted last year; and a 130-kilowatt system will help power the Beijing National Stadium for the 2008 Games.
