Basic Black : the essential guide for getting ahead at work (and in life)
by Cathy Black
Black was one of the first women to take a major role in American magazine and newspaper publishing. She came to Hearst by way of New York magazine, where she was the first woman publisher of a weekly consumer magazine, and USA Today, which she helped build from a small newspaper into one of the country's most widely read daily papers.
The book offers practical tips on handling workplace situations as well as getting the job you want (writing effective resumes, the importance of cover letters and handling job interviews) as well as doing well in your current job. The tips are interspersed within the personal story of her career which makes this book fun to read.

To which other capital city does the city of Oslo give a Christmas Tree every year?
The answer is London.
The first tree was brought over in 1947 as a token of Norwegian appreciation of British friendship during World War II. When Norway was invaded by German forces in 1940, King Haakon VII escaped to Britain and a Norwegian exile government was set up in London. From London, the latest war news was broadcast in Norwegian, along with a message and information network which became vital to the resistance movement and gave the people in Norway inspiration and hope of liberation.
The tree, Norwegian Spruce, is normally about 70 feet high. This year marks the 61st year of the tradition, the Norwegian Christmas tree was lit on December 6th 2007 by the Mayor of Oslo and the Lord Mayor of Westminster. The tree has become a symbol of the friendship between the people of Britain and Norway.

Clean tech revolution : the next big growth and investment opportunity by Ron Pernick and Clint Wilder
Although the environmental movement and global warming has had an impact on the green clean energy market, the real reason for the change in attitude is economic. The authors of Cleantech provide information about the past, present, and future of clean technology. They profile eight major clean-tech sectors, from solar energy and wind power to green buildings and mobile applications as well as companies and cities that are the leaders of this emerging market. Clean technologies are reshaping our world; don’t miss out on the revolution, read this book.
Energy Autonomy: the Economic, Social and Technological Case for Renewable Energy by Hermann Scheer
Scheer points out that our continued reliance on fossil fuels has had perilous consequences. Fossil fuels have accelerated global warming. Our dependence on oil has forced us to rely on one the most unstable parts of the world, the middle east, as well as on the autocratic rulers of Russia and Venezuela. The instability of oil prices has taken its toll on our economy.
Scheer make the case for energy autonomy through renewable resources. The benefits are enormous. New industries would be created that would stimulate the global economy and people who don't receive electricity now would have access to it. We would stem the tide of global warming and would no longer be dependent on whims and ranting's of others.
