Research Guides: How to Create Persistent Article Links
This page provides instructions to help you create persistent URLs linking directly to an article in the following databases:
- ABI/INFORM Global
- Access World News
- Business Source Complete
- Factiva
- JSTOR
- Lexis/Nexis Academic
- PsycINFO
- ScienceDirect
- Other Databases that provide article DOI numbers: Use the DOI Link Builder
Make sure your persistent article links start with the following root URL:
http://gsbproxy.stanford.edu/login?url=
The purpose of the root URL is to enable easy access to articles from off-campus.
ABI/INFORM Global and PsycINFO
1. Go to ABI/INFORM Global or PsycINFO and find your article. Get the Document URL link.
2. Add the root URL to the Document URL link.
For example:
http://gsbproxy.stanford.edu/login?url=http://search.proquest.com/docview/398627079?accountid=14026
Access World News
1. Go to Access World News and find your article.
2. From the full text article view, right click and copy the link at the bottom of the page.
3. Add the root URL to the link.
For example:
If you are getting a link using an off-campus computer and the link includes "gsbproxy.stanford.edu" as below, use as it is.
Business Source Complete
1. Go to Business Source Complete and find your article. From Detailed Record view, see 'Tools' in the right-hand column. Click on permalink to get the permanent article link.
2. Add the root URL to the article link.
For example:
If you are getting a link using an off-campus computer and the link includes "gsbproxy.stanford.edu" as below, use as it is.
Factiva
Use the link builder to create persistent article links.
JSTOR
1. In JSTOR, find your article. Copy the Stable URL.
2. Add the root URL to the Stable URL.
For example: http://gsbproxy.stanford.edu/login?url=http://www.jstor.org/stable/257877
Lexis/Nexis Academic
1. Go to Lexis/Nexis Academic and find your article.
2. From the full text article view, click on
on top right.
3. Add the root URL to the link.
For example:
ScienceDirect
1. In ScienceDirect, find your article. Locate the DOI Link.
2. Add the root URL to the DOI link.
For example:
http://gsbproxy.stanford.edu/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.jacceco.2011.07.001
