Photocopying

General Information

Self-service public photocopy machines are available on both floors of the Jackson Library. Copiers will accept coins, bills and copy cards. There is no charge for copies on the microform printer at this time. Rates for copy charges are noted below.

Additional photocopying services are available in the GSB Copy Center, room S-18 in the basement of GSB South, next to the MBA Computing Lab. Hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. All machines, maintenance and service, in the copy center and at the self-service machines, are provided by Oce Business Services.

Copy Card Information

All card transactions use the StanfordCardPlan, either through a Stanford ID or a copy card. On September 1, 2009, the SCP modified the way their plan works, depending on your university affiliation:

  • Students - if you participate in the StanfordCardPlan you may use your Stanford ID card to make copies and you will be charged for the copies on your University bill. Go to the Gateway to Financial Activities to learn more about the StanfordCardPlan.
  • Faculty and Staff - you may deposit funds on your Stanford ID Card for copying via Cash-to-Card machines.

Students who choose not to sign up for the StanfordCardPlan or individuals who do not have Stanford ID cards may purchase copy cards from the Cash-to-Card machine in the Library's Photocopy Room. Other Cash-to-Card machine locations on campus include:

  • Green Library
  • Lane Medical Library
  • Meyer Library
  • Sloan Math & Computer Science Library
  • Swain Chemistry & Chemical Engineering Library
  • Terman Engineering Library
  • Tresidder Lair
  • Varian Physics Library

Please note that there is a $1.00 charge for the initial card purchase. Copy card purchases are non-refundable, so do not add more value than you will use.

University Departments can obtain blank photo copy cards from the Jackson Library Front Desk. Money may be transferred by preparing a web journal. Instructions for preparing a web journal are available at the Front Desk.

Bad Copy Refunds and Replacements

Replacements for bad copies are available at the Library's Front Desk. We are sorry, but we can only repace bad copies that were caused by copier malfunctions. We cannot provide refunds for problem copy cards. Card problems must be resolved with the Stanford Card Office. Fill out a HelpSu request at helpsu.stanford.edu or call 650-725-HELP (5-4357).
