Knight Management Center update
October 12, 2009
Get ready for the walls and windows to arrive!
Beginning the week of October 12, the walls that have been fabricated in Fremont, California will arrive on site. These walls already have the windows pre-installed so the steel frames will pretty quickly be covered and they will begin to look like real buildings. All four buildings with the steel frames in place should take about 3-4 weeks each for the walls/windows installation—completing all four by January 2010. Check the progress by walking over or via the webcams (www.gsb.stanford.edu/knightcenter)!
Inside the buildings, the floors are being poured and the infrastructure is being put in place for the mechanical and electrical and audio-visual systems—even the framing for the walls is beginning!
What to expect in the coming weeks/months:
Mock-ups of furnishings for student study/break-out areas will in the Jackson Library during October and November. We will be taking student feedback on each piece tested.
The parking structure will be completed soon; the contractors are preparing to pour the final portion of the top floor of the structure and are already preparing the “lid” of the structure—which becomes the courtyard for the faculty office building.
Steel will begin to rise from the Commons, Bass Center and Faculty Office Building shortly.
