Provides background and some financial information on hedge funds.

CISDM [icon - Stanford Network]

Center for International Securities and Derivatives Markets provides information on over 3700 active Hedge Funds and over 660 active CTAs and CPOs. In addition, the database covers 3800 inactives. For each fund in the database, detailed information related to investment strategy and style, historical monthly returns, assets under management, leverage, minimum initial investment, and fee structure is provided.

Directory of Alternative Investment Programs (AIP) (CD-ROM Workstation; Stanford Users may obtain online access at the Information Desk of the Library [icon - Password])

On the CD-ROM Workstation, select Institutions > Investment Criteria > Program Summary > Hedge Funds.

In the online version, select Limited Partners > Search by Program Summary. Highlight "Hedge Funds" in "Assets of Interests" window.

Euromoney Institutional Investor page on Hedge Funds covering articles and news.

Hedge Fund Association

International nonprofit association of hedge fund managers, service providers, and investors.

Hedge Fund Center

Find background information on hedge funds and recent news as well as a great basic overview of what Hedge Funds are.

Hedge Fund Intelligence

The largest provider of hedge fund news and data, publishing newsletters such as Absolute Return, Asia Hedge and Invest Hedge. The library currently does not subscribe.

Hedge Fund Marketing Alliance

Helpful information some data is provided for free, as well as a message board to help interact with peers.

Hedge Fund Research Inc.

A research firm specializing in alternative investment information. The company produces the HFR Database, the industry's most widely used commercial database focused on hedge fund performance.

Managed Funds Association

Based in Washington DC this association for alternative investment managers has good information on Hedge Fund materials and recent legislation.

Seeking Alpha
Handpick articles from the world's top market blogs, money managers, financial experts and investment newsletters - publishing approximately 200 articles daily.
Indices
S&P Hedge Fund Indices

Offers investors a benchmark that is designed to be representative of the broad range of major strategies that hedge funds employ. Effective July 1, 2006 Standard & Poor's suspended calculation and publication of the composite S&P HFI and its three sub-indices, as well as the net value and currency hedged versions of these indices. The historical S&P HFI values are still available on S&P site.
