Christina Cary moved to the Silicon Valley in 1987 after earning a master's degree in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University. She was lucky enough to work for several high-tech companies during some of their most successful and exciting years: Tandem Computers, Silicon Graphics, and Sun Microsystems. Her positions varied, from technical publications editor to software instructor to IT business analyst, but always involved communications, writing, and editing. Currently Christina works as a contract editor for various companies, such as Microsoft and Cisco. Christina also worked in Japan for a year and a half immediately after college, as an in-house English conversation teacher to employees at Japanese companies. She didn't learn to speak much Japanese, but she did return with an appreciation for the different values of another culture and the simple beauty of the Japanese aesthetic (and the food, of course). Christina lives in Sunnyvale, California, with her husband and 8-year-old son. Her volunteer work includes pro bono editing for Career Closet and 2nd Chance 4 Pets, and assisting with food-related charities when she sees the opportunity. She has a bachelor's degree in English from Oberlin College.
