Kara Levy
Kara Levy is a fiction writer who holds a BA from Swarthmore College and an MFA from Columbia University, where she was the co-coordinator of the Columbia Artist/Teachers program. She has taught creative writing and composition at San Jose State University and Columbia University, and has also worked as a copy editor since 2004, editing for private clients as well as for book publishers such as HarperCollins, Scholastic, and Penguin.
Kara was a 2006-7 Steinbeck Fellow in Fiction at the Center for Steinbeck Studies in San Jose, and a 2010 fiction fellow at Hedgebrook. Her fiction appears or is forthcoming in Alaska Quarterly Review, the 2009 Mississippi Review Prize Issue, Zen Monster, as a Friday Feature selection on The Huffington Post, and in Narrative Magazine, where she was a recent winner of the 30Below Prize for writers under 30. She lives in San Francisco.
