Kate Spears
Kate Spears is an attorney by education and a communications coach by choice. She started her own communications firm after serving as an associate partner in Accenture's strategy practice. While there she specialized in developing communications strategies for clients undergoing significant change, as well as developing and delivering communications coaching.
She has a wealth of experience working for and in professional services firms. Kate was a litigator with two Chicago law firms specializing in securities and insurance defense work, as well as providing pro bono criminal defense counseling. Her first management consulting role was with McKinsey & Company's communications staff. Between McKinsey and Accenture she served as employee communications director for U.S. Robotics.
Kate enjoys providing both 1-on-1 coaching and team-based training through her company, Compel Communications. She frequently collaborates with client marketing and capability development experts to develop and deliver training programs for employees and executives in the areas of:
- Business writing and logic
- Presentation skills
- Executive communication
- Meeting management
- Interpersonal skills
Kate also provides marketing and communications support to several not-for-profit organizations in the Chicago area including the Girl Scouts of America, the Midwest regional YMCA, and the Chicago Botanic Garden.
