Nate is the Creative Director at Visual.ly, a San Francisco-based startup building data visualization tools for designers, organizations, and makers of all sorts. At Visual.ly, he focuses on motion and interaction design for data-driven storytelling.
Prior to Visual.ly, Nate was the Creative Director at Transvideo Studios, where he worked with companies and brands of all shapes and sizes to help tell persuasive stories for the web, television, and film. In 2008, he co-founded Picturelab, the design and animation division within the studio. With an express focus on startups and the tech sector, Picturelab and Transvideo have become known for top tier visual narrative and a deep understanding of the industry.
In the spaces between gigs, Nate has enjoyed freelance commercial work and VFX and title design for feature films. He enjoys all aspects of the production process and believes strongly in the power of video to educate and explain.
In real life, he's a father, husband, brother, and uncle. He is a sucker for comic books, loves to cook, and is an expert at building slightly shoddy furniture.
