Highlights this week:
  • Kicking off recruiting season
Favorite memories of my first year:
  • Role playing in Econ class: Newspaper publishing company versus union, press conference.
  • The GSB Show! Performing in it, watching it, the hours of practice for it.
  • The job search and the internship taught me a lot about what is important to me and what I enjoy. Also, made me realize how much I actually learnt at the GSB!
Favorite memories of my second year so far:
  • Watching Safra Catz in Mergers & Acquisitions class and realizing she's got the most chutzpah out of anyone I've met AND she's a woman!
  • Back to school party at Casablanca. Just nice to kick off the year with everyone in a really fun party.
  • Touchy Feely class. Just discovering that it's something that I would enjoy and learn and grow from.

6:45 AM Wake up and get ready.

7:25 AM Out the door to go to my 8 AM interview.

The quiet before the storm. Waiting for my interview in the library.

8:00 AM Go to the interview

9.30 AM I get done and check my email in the library and talk to my classmates.

10:00 AM Mentally preparing myself to start three hours of T-group/emotional gymnastics. We talk about diversity and share stories and feelings surrounding them.

1:00 PM I get lunch with Laura Kruizenga. We go off campus to Lyfe, a new vegetarian restaurant off University Avenue in Palo Alto.

We pass by the yoga studio where I and quite a few other GSBers do yoga. They offered a Groupon a few months ago that started all of us on this studio.

After lunch we get frozen yogurt and head back to campus.

Laura happy with her frozen yogurt.

3:00 PM Taking advantage of the beautiful weather, I sit outside and do my reading for my Lives of Consequence class.

4:30 PM Meet up with Elizabeth Encisco to chat for an hour. We catch up about our day and I give her a case in preparation for interviews

5:30 PM Run over to Vaden Health Center to get a flu shot. It takes me about 10 minutes and the nurses are really friendly.

6:00 PM Eat dinner at Arbuckle café with Benoit Passot, Laura Kruizenga, and Jonathon Contos who is chilling in Arbuckle as we eat dinner right before class.

It's ribs for dinner for me as it's so much more appealing than the other choices of burger or salad.

Benoit is about to dig into his Arbuckle ribs.

7:00 PM Head to the second session of Touchy Feely for more feedback and personal exploration.

10:00 PM End of class and time to head home.

10:20 PM Get home and catch up with my roommate Althea Chia.

12:00 Midnight It's finally bedtime. I'm really tired.

9:00 AM Get up, eat breakfast.

9:30 AM Take care of email for about 45 minutes.

10:15 AM Get ready and watch some CNN.

11:00 AM Commute to school.

11:30 AM Yet another interview. Usually I have aerial fabrics class in the gym but had to skip it this time. : ( Aerial fabrics is an amazing class!

Elizabeth Encisco and I getting ready to get serious. Me with my job search, Elizabeth with coaching MBA1s.

Luca Gualco enters the picture for a mini Section 1 reunion.

1:00 PM Drop off dry cleaning. Lunch with Elizabeth Encisco and Martha Tian at Loving Hut in downtown Palo Alto. It's a vegan restaurant but surprisingly good for how healthy the food is.

3:00 PM Run in to members of the Asian society planning their next activity: a game night with icebreakers and board games. Of course, all topped off with a healthy serving of dumplings.

3:30 PM Meet with Ashley at the library computers to talk about school work. Yes, we do have to do work in b-school.

5:00 PM Give a case to a PhD from the Engineering school in preparation for his interview. Building relationships across the street!

6:30 PM Commute home is riddled with El Camino stoplights.

7:00 PM Relax and talk to my friends outside the GSB on the phone. Work on accounting homework. Excited for the new episode of South Park!

Start writing my journal recording my feelings surrounding class for Touchy Feely. Read up for my Mandarin quiz tomorrow!

1:00 AM It's bed time. I really need to get to bed earlier.

A few more photos:

At the base of one of the hiking trails of Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve. Some park visitors fly little remote-controlled airplanes.

After the hike, my non-GSB friends and I go to get pho in Mountain View. Nothing like a big bowl of beef noodle soup after working up an appetite.

10:00 AM Wake up and eat breakfast.

11:00 AM Look over my notes for my Chinese quiz later.

11:45 AM Commute to school for class.

12:15 - 1:05 PM Go for an across the street class in Beginners Conversational Mandarin.

Enjoying the gorgeous view as I walk from the Knight Management Center to Chinese class.

The building where I reacquaint myself with my cultural roots and learn Mandarin.

1:30 PM It's time for Lives of Consequence, one of the most popular classes at the GSB. We discuss depression, Andre Agassi, and what kind of personality and dedication it takes to live a life of consequence.

I'm early to class but at least I'm not the only one.

3:30-10:00 PM My whole afternoon and night is filled with recruiting events.

10:30 PM I finally get home. I give my parents in Malaysia a Skype call. We catch up about what's going on in our lives.

This is my home.

11:00-12:30 AM I'm dedicating my time to email as neglecting my inbox for a few hours results in a landslide of email.

1:00 AM Bedtime. Not successful at trying to go to bed early.

10:00 AM I wake up to a phone call from Martha to go on a quest to complete our Halloween costumes for a party tonight.

10:30-11:30 AM We go shopping along Broadway in downtown Redwood City to pick up some orange shorts for our Halloween costume.

Martha is successful in sourcing orange shorts!

12:00 Noon - 1:00 PM I stop in at Kellee's and Akin's place to celebrate her birthday! She's set up a great party with Tinkerbell theme in their beautiful apartment.

We're all wearing fairy-themed party hats.

1:00-2:00 PM I meet up with a non-GSB friend for lunch on Castro Street in Mountain View. There's plenty of good restaurants there so we settle on Mediterranean food for lunch.

2:00-3:00 PM I head back over to Kellee's party and continue the socializing over wine and cheese.

Women from Class of 2012, section 1!

3:00-5:00 PM I'm at home alternating between making phone calls and writing emails to coordinate to go out tonight, trying to take a nap, and working in some time to give my parents a call.

6:30 PM I meet Elizabeth at Tofu House for a nice comforting dinner of Korean tofu soup.

8:30 PM-2:00 AM Head up to San Francisco and meet up with a bunch of GSBers to celebrate Halloween in style at Booty SF.

3:00 AM Bedtime. I should probably give up on my goal of going to bed early at this point.
