The Knight Management Center

The Knight Center supports Stanford's innovative, globalized MBA curriculum by offering more flexible classroom spaces for hands-on experiential learning, small-group leadership labs, and team-based learning.

The Knight Management Center comprises 8 buildings around 3 quads on 12.5 acres (5 hectares).

- The Knight Management Center is named after Nike founder Philip H. Knight, MBA 1962, whose generous donation helped to make the $345 million complex possible.
- Construction expected to achieve the highest LEED Platinum rating for sustainability from the US Green Building Council.
- The buildings' mechanical and electrical systems are designed to exceed current state efficiency standards by 45%.
- 90% of interior work spaces are illuminated by daylight and room lights turn off automatically when a room is emptied, reducing the electricity load.
- Rooftop solar panels generate 500,000 kilowatt hours per year to meet some of the center's energy demand.
- Use of gray water or rainwater reduces potables water use by 80%.
- 50% of the 12.5 acre site is preserved for open space.
- During the summer months, the building will employ night flushing systems--automated skylights and windows--to release the hot air of day and draw cool air in overnight.
- The dining pavillion uses a radiant heat and cooling floor system with hot and cold water piping.
- More than 60 trees were protected or preserved from the site before construction, boxed, and replanted after completion.
