Garth Saloner, a faculty member who has met with alumni around the world to solicit opinions or share knowledge, received the Silver Apple Award, given by the Business School Alumni Association to recognize faculty service. The award was presented on Reunion Weekend in October by association president Kimathi Marangu, MBA ’93.
Like many previous Silver Apple recipients, Saloner, the Jeffrey S. Skoll Professor of Electronic Commerce, Strategic Management, and Economics, said he realizes great value from his relationships with alumni. He said alumni entrepreneurs have been the subject of several cases used in his courses, and they and others attend classes to share experiences with students. Others served on panels to give feedback to students whose class projects are new business ideas.
Saloner headed the School’s committee that studied proposals to change the curriculum. He and other committee members spoke to hundreds of alumni worldwide either in person or by phone as part of that process.
