The Apian Way

Spelling Bee

Victory is sweet as can bee for spelling champion Jonathan Shaw of the University of Washington. The champ—flanked by Stanford MBA student judges Alon Krashinsky and Yuval Grill, official reader Mike Henry, and Judge Kelly Sortino, in apian attire—faced stinging competition in the Challenge for Charity spelling bee contest and survived four wrong answers before coming up with “internecine” and “consanguinity.” Sweeter still, the 8 West Coast business schools that competed in the 24th annual Challenge for Charity weekend in April raised $419,000 for Special Olympics and other charities.
