Advisory Council
Dean Ernie Arbuckle established the Advisory Council in October 1959 as a bridge between the School and the business community. Council members, generally graduates of the Business School, are corporate executives who offer their counsel on the School's programs and policies and develop plans to help the school achieve its long-range goals.
When the council was created in 1959, its founding objectives were described as: "to help implement closer communication between education and industry, to provide an organized source of counsel, to act as an observer and critic, and to cooperate with the School in a variety of ways." By-laws require members to be appointed for terms of three years, with a maximum of two terms served consecutively. The Council began as a group of 29 and has grown over the last four decades to its current size of more than 80 members.
