Stanford Graduate School of Business will hold an information session for its first Stanford Ignite program in New York from 6-8 PM on December 3, 2014. Stanford Ignite faculty director and economist Yossi Feinberg will lead the interactive presentation. Prospective applicants may register for the live information session to be held at The Hatchery in Manhattan.

Stanford Ignite is a 10-week, part-time program in innovation and entrepreneurship that teaches innovators how to formulate, develop, and commercialize their ideas. The Stanford Ignite-NYC program is designed to deliver the same kind of immersive, innovative, and hands-on instruction that working professionals and graduate students at Stanford experience.

For Technical Professionals and STEM Graduate Students

The program is aimed at participants with strong scientific, medical, engineering, or technical backgrounds who do not have an advanced degree in business. It provides exposure to both the fundamentals of management and the practical aspects of identifying, evaluating, and moving business ideas forward.

Faculty Beamed in from Silicon Valley

Participants are taught by both Stanford business faculty on the ground in New York and beamed in from Silicon Valley through high-definition video technology. Cisco will host the program in midtown Manhattan, using its high-definition Cisco Telepresence technology to deliver seamless teaching sessions from California to New York. During the program, which runs March 27- May 31, 2015, participants will engage with faculty and each other at Cisco’s 1 Penn Plaza offices in midtown Manhattan. Cisco also has hosted the 2014 Stanford Ignite-Polytechnique program in Paris.

More Than 100 Companies

In aggregate, Stanford Ignite participants have started more than 100 successful companies since the program was introduced at Stanford in 2006. The New York program is one of six Stanford Ignite programs now offered in innovation hubs around the globe to enable audiences outside of Silicon Valley to tap into Stanford’s distinctive approach to teaching entrepreneurship and management. It is now offered in Bangalore, Beijing, Paris, and Santiago, Chile, as well as at Stanford. The certificate program, which costs $14,500, will be held over seven non-consecutive weekends on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. Lessons will include approximately 200 hours of training, with 100 hours spent on team venture projects. Experienced mentors and panels of industry experts from both Silicon Valley and the New York area who will provide real-world feedback on developing projects.
