Public Management Program

Public Management Program

For more than three decades, the Public Management Program (PMP) has given students the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to apply business principles to social and environmental issues. Part of the Center for Social Innovation, the Public Management Program supports student learning in areas spanning public and nonprofit management, social and environmental entrepreneurship, international development, environmental sustainability, and corporate social responsibility.

Innovating Public Management

The Stanford Graduate School of Business is the first and only school to offer a Certificate in Public Management in nonprofit management, government, or socially responsible business.

Air travel from the GSB’s Global Experience Requirement is carbon neutral!

As part of the newly redesigned GSB curriculum, the Global Experience Requirement (GER) provides all first year students with invaluable international experience. But what about the carbon emissions from all those flights? GER air travel could generate up to 900 tons of CO2 annually, as much as is generated by 192 of the average world citizens.

Climate Change PrimerAs a leader in supporting socially responsible business activities, Stanford GSB took a proactive approach to carbon emissions that will result from GER student travel. The GSB partnered with TerraPass to offset these carbon emissions through their project investments in wind power, methane capture, and industrial efficiency. Students also receive educational materials about climate change, to promote conversation about environmental issues both at the GSB and throughout student travel.
