About the Public Management Program
The Public Management Program's mission is "to improve the welfare of individuals, communities and the world by preparing MBA students to apply their management and leadership skills to social problems."
Growth of the PMP
The Public Management Program (PMP) was founded in 1971 by Arjay Miller, then dean of the Business school, with the intention of bridging the gulf he saw between business and government leaders. Since its formation, the PMP has greatly expanded in scope. Today, students active in the PMP examine and explore nonprofits, social enterprise, the arts, education, environmentally sustainable business, venture philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, and more.
In 2000, the Public Management Program expanded its reach by becoming part of the Business School's Center for Social Innovation (CSI), which works with current and future leaders, through research, teaching and community engagement, to help them be more effective in their efforts to improve society.
