The Public Management Program provides unparalleled academic opportunities for students seeking cutting-edge knowledge on the application of business principles to social and environmental issues. Whether students choose to pursue the Certificate in Public Management, to complete an independent study project on a pressing social issue, or simply to take PMP courses, the PMP ensures that each individual has the academic options they need to pursue their interests and meet their goals.
The Public Management Program also supports students in the Public Management Initiative, a year-long exploration of a current issues such as the environment, women in leadership, and the double bottom line.
James Patell is awarded the 2007 Robert T. Davis Award
PMP
Professor James Patell is the 2007 recipient of the Robert T. Davis award,
presented by the School's faculty to recognize an individual for a lifetime
of service and achievement. Patell joined the Business School faculty
32 years ago as an accounting professor with a degree in marine architecture
and is now the co-director of the Alliance for Innovative Manufacturing
at Stanford. He is also a founding faculty member of the Hasso Plattner
Institute of Design, otherwise known as Stanford's d-School, and he is
the creator of and co-teaches the course Design for Extreme Affordability.

Erica Plambeck receives Rising Star Award
Professor
Erica Plambeck was honored with the Rising Star Award in the Fall 2005
"Beyond Grey Pinstripes" as the Aspen Institute and the World
Resources Institute survey how business schools are incorporating social
and environmental issues into their curriculum. Weaving environmental
issues into operations curriculum, Plambeck provides cutting-edge motivation
