Certificate in Public Management
The Certificate of Public Management is an option within the MBA and Sloan programs for students interested in focusing their coursework on socially responsible business, nonprofit, or public sector management. This unique academic option -- the first and only existing credential of its kind to be offered by business schools -- serves as evidence of a student's preparation for and commitment to public issues and serves as an important signal to future employers.
Certificate Requirements
Students wishing to earn a PMP Certificate must complete a minimum of 16 PMP elective course units, including a PMP economics course. Students may also petition to include independent study projects or other Stanford University courses for Certificate credit.
Areas of Specialization
There are three areas of Certificate specialization available: Government, Nonprofit Management and Socially Responsible Business. Within the 16 minimum units, including a PMP economics course necessary to earn a Certificate, students who wish to specialize must earn a minimum of eight units from the qualifying courses in their preferred area of specialization. See below for a list of this year's qualifying courses.
