Public Management Program

Public Management Initiative (PMI)

The Public Management Initiative (PMI) is a critical component of the PMP. Each year, students select one topic to explore in detail throughout the following academic year.

PMI Topic 2008-9: Inclusive Development: Making Markets Work

Poverty is a pervasive problem.  PMI students will explore how financial institutions, corporations, int’l orgs, governments and social ventures are collaborating to find innovative ways of making markets work for the poor.  It includes: Guest speakers and a column in The Reporter; workshops to help you apply business skills to development causes; networking sessions to build connections with practitioners and colleagues; and, opportunities for action via career treks, consulting opportunities with local organizations, and a single-credit class taught by leading practitioners in the field.  Funding will also be available for your project and speaker ideas!  Get involved! PMI Topic 2007-8: Reel Impact, Capturing the Power of Business to Create Social Value

Reel Impact, Capturing the Power of Business to Create Social Value has been chosen as the PMI topic for 2007-2008. This project will explore the power of art and media in amplifying the impact of social entrepreneurship. Reel Impact will engage multiple media, including film, print, and web, to document how business is catalyzing social change around the globe. Stay tuned to the progress of Reel Impact through its interactive website and blog and feel free to contribute at www.reelimpact.org.
