"My village visits around India made me realize that you have to be a great listener in order to be a great leader. I learned as much from the pioneering Drishtee women entrepreneurs as I have from any business school case study."

Stanford Management Internship Fund
Since 1981, the Stanford Management Internship Fund (SMIF) has supported nearly 450 MBA students through summer fellowships with public, nonprofit, and social purpose for-profit organizations around the world. Through the generosity of the GSB community, which collectively supports the fellowship program, SMIF Fellows enhance their management and leadership capabilities and test their mastery of MBA skills.
SMIF is designed to:
- encourage MBA students to pursue summer jobs and professional careers in the public, nonprofit, and social purpose for-profit business sectors.
- provide high-quality management skills to social sector organizations that otherwise could not afford them.
- enrich the Stanford Business School community's understanding of management issues in the social sector.
During the summer of 2007, 21 GSB students furthered social impact through a SMIF Fellowship, and over the years, more than 300 organizations have hosted SMIF Fellows
