APPLICATION INFORMATION

Application Deadline

March 9th, 2009.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Students are urged to apply as early as possible.

Admission Criteria

Applicants must have completed at least three years of college studies and must be majoring in a non-business field (e.g. engineering, liberal arts, sciences).

The program assumes no previous coursework in business-related subjects. The following criteria are used to evaluate applicants:

Academic performance

Rigor of academic curriculum

Overall record of accomplishment in volunteer activities, student or community organizations, work or internship experience, and leadership experience

Please note: Applicants who graduated more than three years ago will not be considered for admission.

Application Materials

A complete application will include the following:

Online application, including a short essay.

Two letters of recommendation. One letter must be from someone who has taught you in the classroom.  The second letter may come from another professor, faculty advisor, or from someone who has supervised you in a work setting. These should be from individuals who have been directly responsible for evaluating your academic or work performance and potential.

Official transcripts from each college and/or university you have attended, regardless of the number of credits received. Official records are original documents issued by the institution that bear its official stamp as well as the signature of the appropriate official. A photocopy is generally not acceptable, unless it is properly certified by an academic or government official who has personally compared the original with the photocopy and verified that it is a true copy of the original. If transcripts do not show a 4.0 grade scale equivalency, an assessment scale must be submitted as well.

Additional materials for international students:

If you require a visa to attend the Summer Institute for General Management, you must submit

a copy of your passport, and

documentation of financial eligibility.

If English is not your native language, you must submit

proof of English proficiency. This may be in the form of an adequate TOEFL score dated within the last 24 months, a degree from an American high school, college or university, or a letter from a college or university that you are currently attending stating you have a full course load and that English is the primary mode of instruction.

If You Are Accepted

Applicants must submit a written acceptance within 1 week of admission to confirm their intent to attend.  To secure a place in the program, payment is due upon notification of admission.  Applicants applying for a scholarship, financial assistance, or the CitiBank loan will be granted a grace period until their aid status is confirmed.

If the student wishes to apply for a loan, he or she must do so within five days of notification of admission.

All scholarships and financial assistance will be awarded by the end of March, 2009.

Cancellation Policy

The application and visa processing fees are non-refundable. Out of consideration for those on the waiting list and due to the fact that we send materials in advance, we have established the following cancellation policy for students who apply by the March 9, 2009 deadline:

Before April 30, 2009 the tuition balance may be refunded, minus a $1500 cancellation fee.

No refund if cancellation is after April 30, 2009.

Nonpayment of fee does not constitute cancellation. Written notification is required.
