Field of Study: Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Why were you interested in participating in the SIE?
I wanted to learn the business aspects of starting and running a company while getting connected with the entrepreneurial eco-system in Silicon Valley
Were your expectations for the program met?
My expectations for the program were completely surpassed. In fact, it was the most fun and valuable educational experience of my life! My fellow classmates, the professors, the guest entrepreneurs and the staff were all exceptionally friendly, smart and ambitious. I had never been to Stanford before the program and was blown away by the beauty of the campus and the fact that it never rained (I’m from Ireland).
What are you doing now?
Since finishing the course a month ago, I have started a company in Silicon Valley.
How will your experience in the SIE help you in future endeavors?
I have just started a company and my SIE experience is proving invaluable everyday!
In your opinion, what was the most valuable aspect of the SIE?
For me, the opportunity to hit the ground running as a Silicon Valley entrepreneur was the most valuable aspect. Before the course I didn’t know many people in Silicon Valley but the course helped me get to know a lot of likeminded aspiring entrepreneurs, investors and seasoned entrepreneurs.
Tip from a non-Stanford student:
If your goal is to be an entrepreneur in Silicon Valley and are currently in a non-business graduate program at a university outside of Silicon Valley then you should definitely apply for this program, I guarantee you won’t regret it! |
