Why were you interested in participating in the SIE?
I had a new idea to improve radiation therapy for cancer treatment, and was very excited about it, but had no clue how to pursue it. The SIE program was a perfect place to learn about forming a new venture and building an initial business plan.
Were your expectations for the program met?
The program far exceeded my expectations! It was simply the best program I have ever taken.
What are you doing now?
I am continuing to pursue the new venture. I am currently working with an IP firm on patenting the concept, and am actively seeking out and interviewing experts in radiation oncology.
How will your experience in the SIE help you in future endeavors?
The experience I gained at SIE was invaluable. Understanding the fundamentals of important topics in business administration such as accounting, finance, marketing, strategy, and economics, is an enormous asset no matter what career path I choose. In addition, the feedback venture capitalists provided will help me tremendously when I pursue venture funding.
In your opinion, what was the most valuable aspect of the SIE?
This is the toughest of the questions. I would rank the following five aspects equally: 1) Receiving a mini-MBA education from world-renowned professors. 2) Navigating with ease through a densely packed program because of the extremely well organized materials and dedicated staff. 3) Working with a team of amazing individuals on a business plan. 4) Listening to the inspiring stories from the guest speaker entrepreneurs. 5) Meeting and interacting with a very talented set of classmates. |
