September Term
The special three-week September Term helps Fellows refresh their knowledge of the primary tools that will be used throughout the program. A typical example of the courses included:
Modeling and Analysis
Jeffrey Moore
Senior Lecturer of Operations, Information, and Technology
This course introduces modeling for managerial decision making. It builds upon basic spreadsheet modeling in Excel to include formal methods of decision making under conditions of uncertainty and certainty in the decision making environment. These concepts are used in the fall quarter Modeling and Analysis course. Students are required to have prior knowledge of the Excel spreadsheet package.
Managerial Accounting
Madhav Rajan
Gregor G. Peterson Professor of Accounting
This course emphasizes the use of accounting information for internal planning and control purposes. This orientation contrast with financial accounting where the focus is on accounting disclosures for parties external to the firm. The course covers the vocabulary and mechanics of cost accounting, issues involved in the design of internal accounting systems, and the role of management accounting decisions concerning resource allocation and performance evaluation.
Microeconomics
Robert Flanagan
Konosuke Matsushita Professor of International Labor Economics and Policy Analysis
This is a background course in basic microeconomics and incremental analysis.
